  • The VERY LAST shuttle mission (Atlantis STS-135) awaits on Pad 39-A at Kennedy June 2011. Launch is set for July 2011. STS-134 landed the night before and that shuttle was being preped to become a museum display.

• HISTORICAL: U.S. Apollo_Saturn Gemini_Titan Mercury_Atlas/Mercury_Redstone : Hard to believe, but it was almost four decades ago that humanity last put a footprint on the moon, and even longer since the U.S. first put a human in space (Note: The Russians had first the Artificial Satellite-- Sputnik -- and first Human in Space-- Yuri Gagarin . U.S. Had first the human on the Moon--Neil Armstrong). The Saturn V is big enough to give anyone goosebumps. These and the Russian equivelents were the first steps to the human space destiny. One day, a human child will look back at Sol from a distant star system and have those who made these early rockets to thank.
  • Looking at this Redstone Booster (Mercury_Redstone) in the rocket park at Kennedy Space Center, just like rocket that put the first American in space, one has to wonder if Alan Shepard said "You want me to ride on top of THAT?". The booster was derived from the German WWII V2 rocket. The little black thing at the top is what they shoved A.Shepard into.
  • A beast of a rocket, the business end of the Saturn V first stage at KSC. This could have carried Apollo 20 had it went.
  • One of the five Saturn V first stage engines.

  • The capsule that would have carried 3 astronauts to the moon.
  • One of those capsules after it comes back for a splash landing back on Earth.
  • These little pods are the equivelent of steering rudders for the Apollo space ship.A puff of thrust to point in any direction or spin (or correct a spin).
